THE FLAMING LIPS

Formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, The Flaming Lips have, over the past four decades, become one of the most iconic, influential, unpredictable, and essential forces in American alternative rock. The band has earned three GRAMMY® Awards, a Tony Award nomination, and an RIAA Gold certification for their album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Q Magazine named them among the “50 Bands to See Before You Die.”

The Flaming Lips have made countless appearances on late-night television, featured in a Super Bowl commercial, contributed to numerous film soundtracks, and collaborated with a wide range of artists including Miley Cyrus, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Kacey Musgraves, Yoko Ono, The Chemical Brothers, and many more. They have set and broken records and created spectacular interactive audiovisual projects now regarded as legendary.

Frontman Wayne Coyne is also an acclaimed visual artist — his works have graced many of the band’s album covers, and his traveling exhibition “The King’s Mouth”, an immersive audiovisual installation, has been showcased in several contemporary art museums across the United States.
