Metronome Prague has added a rap stage

At the sixth edition of Metronome Prague, visitors will be treated to a packed rap stage. During the last weekend of June, rappers such as J.I.D (USA), Kelvyn Colt (GER) or Frosti (POL) will shine on it. Joining the foreign stars, domestic big names like Supercrooo, PSH with live band, Pio Squad and especially the young blood of Czech rap Sawsane, Gesto Booth, Annet X, Baby G and others won’t be left behind. The rap stage will thus complement the varied programme of the Metronome festival, with stars such as Jamiroquai, M83, Moderat, ZAZ, Tove Lo, Aurora, Editors, Biig Piig, White Lies and the like already announced. Metronome Prague tickets from the current discounted edition are going fast, organizers recommend not to hesitate with the purchase. VIP tickets are already sold out, while standard ones are still available.

This year, Metronome Prague has given hip hop culture its own stage, where rap, grime and trap lovers will party every day until the early morning hours from Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th June. For the first time, a rap star, American artist J.I.D, will perform on the main stage.

“I'm glad that this year’s edition of Metronome is fully opening up to rap and adding this great stage that will offer the best of the rap world here and abroad. The lineup will feature American rapper J.I.D or nice guy Kelvyn Colt from neighbouring Germany. Some of the domestic matadors will perform here, for example Supercrooo, and you should definitely not miss the concert of PSH with live band. We also want to give space especially to fresh young rap. I think, for instance, that Sawsane – an outstanding person/choreographer of the Czech dance scene – will put on a great show," says seasoned rap scene dramaturg, sound engineer, producer and also DJ Risto Sokolovski, responsible for instance for the ground-breaking album Toxic Funk by Supercrooo and known for long-term collaboration with rapper and artist James Cole.

American rap star J.I.D of the hip hop-soul formation Spillage Village has three albums and records he has contributed to and three Grammy Award nominations to his credit since beginning his career in 2010. For his rap flow, he has been chosen to collaborate with Imagine Dragons (the track Enemy), Doja Cat (Options), and Mac Miller with the bassist Thundercat, with whom he was supposed to go on a tour which was cancelled due to Miller's death.

Not far behind J.I.D is German-Nigerian rapper and model Kelvyn Colt, whose music mixes strict rap with trap sound with a soul touch, with more dance-oriented vibes being no exception.

Coming from nearby Poland, Frosti will drop bars over rap and trap beats especially for the younger audience. His tracks have over a million views on the artist’s YouTube channel.

The domestic hip hop scene will not be left out of Metronome Prague. It hosts Czech cult names like Supercrooo, PSH with live band and Jihlava rap veterans Pio Squad, who will offer new sound and material from their new album Torzo. But besides the matadors, Metronome is giving space to the young scene in particular, which is why the rap stage will feature a packed line-up led by ladies Sawsane, Annet X and Baby G, supported by Gesto Booth and DJs LU2 Vinyl Flexer, DJ Doemixxx, DJ Double J and DJ Noir.

"I invite you all to the Metronome festival where you can see, hear and experience me among other sensations. If you're into no-frills rap combined with dancing, then you've got something to look forward to, because I'm not just walking alone on stage, I'll be joined by my dancers Humman and Nack’o’flex and we'll go wild!" entices respected choreographer Zuzana Al Haboubi, who raps under the name Sawsane. The Metronome Prague dramaturgical team would like to point out that more names are yet to be added to the rap stage. There will be a lot to look forward to.
