LAKE MALAWI

Lake Malawi is an indie-pop band that was founded by Albert Cerny and Jeroným Subrt in 2013. They gained international recognition when they represented the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with their song "Friend of a Friend," which was co-written by Albert Cerny and achieved an 11th place finish in the Grand Final.

Lake Malawi has an impressive track record of over 300 live shows in various countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Israel, Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom. They have had the opportunity to open for renowned acts such as Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Kooks, and Mika in Prague and have graced the stages of major festivals like Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic) and The Great Escape (UK). Their music has also found a home on major Czech radio stations and has been featured in various Czech films.

Currently, Lake Malawi performs as a five-piece band, with additional members Lukás Chromek and David Kandler alternating on guitar, Matyás Vorda and Pavel Plasil alternating on drums, and Jan Uvira handling keys.
