VERA SOLA

The American/Canadian poet, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Vera Sola is hard to pin down. In her music, she combines folk, doo-wop, western, and soul. Just as she navigates between musical genres, she switches in her striking vibrato from guttural howling to quiet whispering. Before she started writing music, she wrote poetry, which she also studied at Harvard. She first introduced her musical talent with the debut album "Shades" in 2018. She produced the entire album completely on her own, recorded all vocals and music, and revealed her soul to the world in the lyrics.

Her greatest inspiration is the delta blues genre, which appealed to her primarily with its urgency and raw emotions in often simple lyrics. She decided to apply this to her songs, which often reflect the urgency and pitfalls of the modern world. In her second album "Peacemaker" from this year, she embarks on an atmospheric journey with the aim of finding peace both within herself and in the world. Critics compare her voice to that of Nancy Sinatra, her melancholic lyrics to Lana Del Ray, and her hypnotic live performances to films by David Lynch.
